We invite undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students with an interest in theoretical and mathematical biology to participate in the MAT-BIO Exchange Summer School 2026, a five-day international summer school taking place from 31 August to 4 September 2026 in Warsaw.
The summer school is designed to introduce participants to the use of mathematical models in biology and to foster new collaborations among students and researchers from leading European universities. Topics will include population genetics, ecology, developmental biology, epidemiology, and mathematical models of disease treatment.
No advanced background in mathematics or biology is required. We welcome motivated students from diverse disciplines who are curious about the interface between mathematics and the life sciences.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own biological questions and ideas, which can be explored together with lecturers and fellow students. The summer school emphasizes discussion, collaboration, and hands-on exploration of modelling approaches. Even students without prior modelling experience will have many opportunities to engage and learn.
The summer school is open exclusively to students from the 4EU+ Alliance universities: Charles University, Heidelberg University, Sorbonne University, University of Copenhagen, University of Geneva, University of Milan, University of Paris-Panthéon-Assas, and University of Warsaw.
To apply, please complete the registration form available at the top of this page. Because the number of places is limited, participants will be selected primarily on the basis of their motivation letter and overall interest in the topic.
Registration is open until 8 June 2026.
Accommodation and travel (excluding airport transfer) will be funded and organized by the Summer School. Meals (coffee breaks and lunch) are included. Accepted students will be contacted about travel arrangements.

Join us in Warsaw from 31 August to 4 September 2026 to learn how mathematics can help us understand biological systems and to become part of a growing international community at the interface between mathematics and biology.
MATBIO EXCHANGE successfully took place, and we truly enjoyed it.
The programme is available bellow same as the photogallery.
A delightful surprise at the end of the workshop was receiving personal praise from Elena Del Giorgio, 4EU+ Secretary General.
